During the deployment of GX2 Production Release v2026.1 (Deployment #1), an issue was encountered during the database upgrade phase that impacted production environments in the US and Canada.
The issue was traced to a schema change introduced in this release, which generated significantly higher database transaction log activity than expected. In the impacted environments, this resulted in transaction log exhaustion, preventing the upgrade steps from progressing at the expected rate and, in some cases, blocking completion until corrective action was taken.
To safely restore service and complete the deployment, corrective actions were implemented to stabilize the affected environments. These included rerunning the upgrade process in a controlled manner and reducing deployment parallelism to limit concurrent load on the database systems. The remaining application deployment activities were completed once the database upgrade succeeded.
Next Steps: We are enhancing our release review and validation processes to better assess database-intensive changes prior to production rollout. Additional safeguards will be introduced to more effectively identify and mitigate similar risks in future releases.
